Vasantha Krishnan was trained in India in the Kalakshetra style of Bharatha Natyam, she  emphasized on the precise rendering of adavus and also the ultimate focus on Bhakthi.  Vasantha Krishnan is the Director of the Nrithyalaya School of  South Indian classical dance and music, which she founded in Montreal in 1976. With such a rich educational background in that artistic heritage, she became one of the prime forces in spreading and enlivening the art of  Bharatha Natyam or the South Indian Classical  Dance in Canada and United States. Since then, the Nrithyalaya has flourished under Vasantha Krishnan's direction, she inspired and has over the years produced a stream of  young graduates who have done the school and the community  so proud.

As classical dance teacher, choreographer and performer, Vasantha Krishnan’s creativity and enthusiasm  has introduced  new pieces at every occasion. Since then, she has achieved renown locally and abroad for her teaching skills and excellence in choreography. She was recently given the title of "Nrithya Seva Mani" by the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana for her tireless efforts in propagating the art form in North America.
